Lavender

Lavender

It began with a lavender sprinkled morning,
on a dusk compelled day.
And the child could simply not –
hear what the mind was trying to convey!

For the pace was so very rapid,
and the sprinkling so very vague,

As the woman above said –
“Let me thus entreat you to listen to
heaven’s ethereal obey.”

It began on a dust and fairied morning,
on an angel-wandering day…

But!

The pace was so very rapid,
and the sprawl so very vague
(for twas a huge and most magnanimous thing
that the mind was trying to convey) –

that the poor child was left to simply wonder
at heaven’s starling message
that the woman was trying to say.
